As a solopreneur who went from working with a large team of people in a big building one of the hardest adjustments has been getting back into to the mental and emotional space I need to re-engage with work after a lunch break.

I am a morning person. My most productive and creative period is between 6:00 am and 1:00 pm. The mid-afternoon hours have proven a challenge since working from home. I sort of lose my mo-jo around 2:00.

After much trial and error I’ve discovered two things that have helped motivate and energize me to get back to it:

  1. Regularly scheduled lunch hour where I leave my office to eat

  2. Protein packed, brain-friendly lunch options

  3. A brisk walk after lunch—as little as 10 minutes is helpful

  4. I set the alarm on my watch for an hour as a reminder to get back to work

  5. Tapping into my strengths to motivate me to get stuff done

Here are three of my favorite summertime, gluten free, and yummy lunch ideas:

Cilantro Lime Chicken Bowls

Mason Jar Power Salads

Vegetarian Quesadillas
